The Chacón Solano family has been growing coffee in Las Lajas for more than 80 years and for three generations. Oscar and Francisca Chacón started organic farming about 30 years ago, and in 2000 it became one of the few farms in Costa Rica to receive official organic certification. The family strives not only to manage ecologically and socially responsibly, but also to produce coffee of the highest quality. They are innovative when it comes to processing. The farm grows mainly Caturra and Catuaíí varieties in the shade of the original trees.
